But I believe that first the Beast is both a kingdom and a king. In Daniel ch. 7° the four beasts are clearly described in this way. Beside, the fourth beast of Dan 7 is clearly the same of Rev 13:1-2.
If you read allegorically the book of Revelation you miss the most juicy stuff.
Another observation. The Leopard is identified also directly with Nimrod. He was the first of seven kings in the Rev 12 list, a Babylonian king.
The middle king (4°), another Babylonian guy, was Nabuchadnezzar. Then we have the seventh, reigning the global empire of Babylon the Great.... 1, 4, 7.... I remember often this number in my old blogs....

I didn't know that Chrysostom degenerated to such an extent... Evidently the worst survived in the academy. The church's "fathers" (Luther calling them "church babies") are useful to trace the readings of the Textus Receptus in their writings.
