In the Bulgarian news, a report was given from the most well known monastery, Troyan, about the festivities and the worship on this day. In the Video above the reporter, at 27 seconds "mistakenly" says the following:
"The Holy SCRIPTURES say this is the day the Mother of God left her earthly life and went to her son.... 3 days earlier Gabriel told Her God wants to take Her to Himself."
Nothing like this is found in the Scriptures. Some of my friends believe it was accidental, but it would be strange if the reporter said this by mistake, in front of 4-5 million viewers. The word "tradition" indeed is close to "scriptures" - предания (traditions) vs писания (scriptures) but reporters rehearse their lines many times over.
But, its only a matter of time. It is part of God's plan to leave the mystery of iniquity to unfold itself. Or rather, as it is in the Greek, the mystery of lawlessness. Christ could only be incarnate in one man, who fulfills the law. Family worship is also prominent and is one of the more sinister forms of idolatry. Remember how prominent a role it has in catholic theology..... Jesus cannot be reached but by his immediate blood family of semi-mediators (semi-conductors?). Then we go to the old pagan narratives re-painted in christian garb and so forth. But these are very banal topics already.
I certainly believe the family has a value over the nation and that a man should protect his family from all threats, physical or moral. However, the family is being exploited for political purposes as a column holding the nation. It is the single most important unit for social order and a pillar for national identity, seeing it perpatuates the particular sacral ideas and narratives.
