Augustine, ironically, being the architect of Rome (doctor of the Church), will be also her destroyer. Because in attempting to hide the sins of Rome behind the Biblical teaching of predestination, he actually set in motion the uncovering of them and the Exodus of believers. He was absolutely right that predestination is within their church ("in that saidst thou truly")- yet he arrogantly assumed that God works only or even mostly in her. The word of God will not let itself be abused or edited, or avoided. And this is the power of God - the doctrine of predestination itself is the ultimate weapon to drive "his people out of her" Rev 18:4 while destroying her at the same time. Expect the final blow to Popedom to come against her new progressivist humanism which is only a more intricate form of free-willism.
Hence the logical progression of inevitable destruction witnessed through the ages:
Joel 1:4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.
William of Occam, the palmerworm, showed that God's will is above all.
Thomas Bradwardine, the locust, showed that God has predestined all.
Luther and Wycliffe, the cankerworm, showed that salvation comes through the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures, from the will of God not from the church or the will of man.
These men, though far from a pristine understanding of the Scriptures, by uncovering the doctrines of grace, which are the key to heaven, bound Rome to a course she must take in her attempt at survival. It was the most profound use of the keys in history, unlocking the gates of heaven and locking the gates of hell.
The KJB gives out a clue with the "cankerworm". After Luther, the church must mutate and expand like a late stage canker/cancer, which will ultimately kill itself. Just like a flesh wound which gradually becomes cancerous, the Roman Catholic church mutates after each wound. You will never see nurses attempt to resuscitate an old man who is dying of cancer. Yet this is exactly what the jesuits are doing. They are arrogantly assuming they can just "revive" the god they think Luther has killed with his inhumane doctrines and they have buried with their French, Russian (and American) revolutions in the magical chamber of the Pyramid to be revived. But all they will get is a decorated mummy. They think they can science or magic their way out of the end. But it is all in vain. It is only the madness of desperation.
The
next men of the true and living God, the caterpillars, (the two of Revelation 11?) will show that God reigns and that the followers of the
antichrist will fulfill the book of Revelation to the end, because it is the will of God (Rev 17). The enemies of God will finalize the destruction of the building just like the Judaic priesthood did at the time of Christ. For that is all they can do. And they can never stop the disintegration of the Harlot System, even if they add new territories and use new deceptions.

The lawless antichrists
The mountain of Sinai is the law giving place, the gap between men and God, whereas the mountain of Zion (referenced in that verse) is the place of the fulfilled law and of the freedom from all enemies, in the case of Christ even of death and sin, where the king rules with his friends (where David settled and ruled his kingdom). Both are spiritual entities, representing spritiual realities, more than anything. But a correct understanding of the law includes its new role in the life of the believer, a safeguard against sin and despair and an enjoyment of the holiness, perfection and moral superiority of God. (As all of psalm 119 attests)
The gnostics had almost no conscience and the law caused the opposite of grace - mellowed Luther - not an attempt to escape it or wash it away with the gospel, but the desire to replace it (see Psalm 119:126+Matthew 15:3; Daniel 7:25), with a law they easily fulfill every day. That was the mindset of the egyptian desert satanist fathers. In being self-righteous they had to come up with a lifestyle that would both have external holiness and allow them to puff up in their minds. The atrocity of prideful humility that was covered with a self constructed and regulated meritocracy, only paying lip service to God. They believed that virtually ALL of their trials and tribulations were caused by demons who came to disturb their peace of mind and contemplation. This is an extremely gnostic teaching that comes from the concept of the "immovable race" of gnostic ascetic overcomers, who remain untouched by the movements and seductions of the archons. The truth here is that those demons were no demons but the dying pangs of their conscience, which they destroyed with the help of the true demons within them. (1 Tim 4:1-4). Cleaning themselves on the outside, they died a second time, went beyond death, to hell, on the inside (Luke 11:39; Titus 1:15). Wylie describes something similar (total obedience to the superiors and monasticism in jesuitism, derived from egyptian cenobitism) as "the second fall" in his chapter on jesuitism in the protestant history book. I would agree as this process destroyed the last leftovers of light and divine reason in the human being. A second fruit - not of knowing good and evil, but this time destroying the knowledge of good and evil. This is to know "the depths of Satan", becoming a hellish, remorseless puppet of the evil one.
Now, the gnostics (as the manichaeans) had two castes or two groups within their sects - the ascetics and the libertines/hedonists. Both were antinomian (lawless), but in different respects. The first were the priesthood who punished their flesh, as attacked by "demons" (archons in their case) and persevered in prayer and set their own law. The second were the laity, who were permitted a lot or everything. This distinction is now preserved in the two types of antichrists - the monk superiors (jesuits) and the libertine secret societies, like freemasonry. The second are constantly exposed, along with fringe, layman, lesbian/hippy gnosticism, and put under the light as the "enemy" of the church, playing on their radically different lifestyle and social background. There is no problem to admit the antiquity of freemasonry, illuminism etc in the occultism and libertine gnosticism of the past, but the monks have to conceal their gnostic past, or their common origin will be revealed.

So these have their law and are "lawless", for breaking the spiritual commandments of God.
The replacement may consist in downgrading/ pulling down of divine things to human/external level.
Thats why there is no problem with the pope being the "lawless one", even if he claims to perform the law of God, he never exhibits the spiritual (Romans 7) function and side of the law, but conceals it under his carnal and expanded law. And he is also antichrist for the below reason given:
Being lawless means also denying the leading role of law, the role of the schoolmaster (Gal 3) . Therefore to be lawless means to be antichrist, since Christ was incarnated with the purpose of fulfilling the law (Romans 8:3-4). Thats why John in his epistles talks about both as being linked.
If the law is not what the bible says, but a humanly surmountable law, there is no need for Christ to be incarnate. Historically there was one major apostacy, described in 2 Thessalonians. However, seeing the bible speaks of things past, present and perfect, another one, which will resemble the first in character and exceed it in scale is to be expected. The new Constantine, who will retake constantinople, will be the great monarch, spoken of by both catholic and orthodox prophecies. Still, the antichrist is the pope. So that the pope is the father, the king is the son, and the new army of russian evangelists is the unholy ghost.
Those who do wickedly against the covenant are, like the apostate jews who resided in israel, residing in the seats of authority in "evangelical" churches and "protestantism". The ecumenical spirit will be hastened through the commonly suffered martyrdom at the hand of islam and the looming threat of a revived quasi-communist Russia. Americans are even now corrupted by pretense morality and newly found bonds with catholicism and orthodoxy. The incentive for flattery will be the fightback against islam, the new crusades. Those who participate will be crowned and exalted by the pope. The true christians will reject the new apostate system and will move to other countries, probably thus far unaffected by the gospel. Additionally, they will begin to expose their reprobate brethren and suffer for it.
The church will not be silent till the end, however the new cathorthodox world empire will be unrestrained in its slaughter of heretics. The inquisition will return for the last time. (Dan 7:21; 11:36; Rev 13:7). There will be no magical rapture, but the blood of the two witnesses(actually the worldwide genocide of christians) will prove to be the last drop in the cup of wrath of God to destroy antichrist. (Rev 16~~~). There will be a grand revival after the destruction of antichrist and his whore.

Their connection with Newman and his writings on conscience add even deeper meaning to the heroic life and death of this brave young German sister and brother.
Their story is movingly told in the recent powerful, Academy Award nominated film Sophie Scholl. If you have not seen it, be sure to get a copy and watch it for insight and inspiration.

One of the many interesting revelations in the Catholic Herald article is that the German Catholic convert and scholar named Theodor Haecker, who converted from reading Newman's writings, was a personal friend of the Scholls and the one who introduced them to Newman's thought (which played such a significant role in the writings of the White Rose movement), and was the same person who also introduced Joseph Ratzinger to Newman's thought and writings. And as we know, Ratzinger, now Benedict XVI, became a great student and devotee of the thought and writings Newman, and has personally led the way for his Beatification, and will personally travel to England in the Fall to Beatify Newman.
