 Very mishmashy post of the type where all leads come together.


Recently a family friendly blockbuster movie (which is the new style of movies since at least 2005; adult oriented movies are almost entirely gone) with an interesting title and plot came out: "Project Hail Mary" - a movie about saving the Sun. As I have discussed before, Roman Catholicism is a extremely syncretic mystery religion that centers around an ancient Egyptian solar cult which later transformed into worshipping the "true light" of knowledge/gnosticism and releasing it through alchemy. The recent religious psychodrama behind the Ukrainian war which is a re-release of the salvation of the boat of Ra ancient Egyptian ritual is now compressed into an artistic work. Humanity has to save the Sun from alien bacteria. The novelty here is that the danger comes not from a ultradeveloped technological civilization (like how Jesus Christ and the angels will be presented at his Second Coming), but from a meager microorganism. Feeding both the paranoia and fascination of humanity towards space and pumping up its ambitions and delusions of self reliance is the goal.

   The Truncated Pyramid with the solar light from the angle in the friendly alien ship is one of the main positive symbols of the sci fi movie......Humanity must unite with the good aliens. It is the symbol of Hathor, the earth Goddess, the throne upon which the woman sits. All discussed under the Hathor tag. Demonic forces control the Vatican and elevate its power above the kings of the earth.... for now

Back to "Project Hail Mary". The friendly alien and main helper of the human protagonist is a "rock" like creature (rock aka Peter, aka the Pope), called "rocky" which is obsessed with triangles (LOL).

 Notice first the allusion to 666. It is 999. Anti-anti-christ or "the Christ". A representative of the idea of total destruction/extinction.  The ONLY asteroid presenting danger to earth and is named after the ONLY deity in ancient Egypt that threatened the rising of the sun, RA, and the life along the Nile..... And the probe is called OSIRIS-REX or OSIRIS KING, revealing the defiance of humanity towards the King of kings who is now painted all black. Pardon, I should have said EXTERNAL threat. Because there are some INTERNAL issues for humanity that can be taken care of first.

Secondly, it can be avoided or maybe fought. This is the message of so many movies - the apocalypse or end of humanity can somehow be averted. Remember the disaster asteroid movie "Armageddon"? A rejection of prophecy. Just like the book of Revelation can be negated or annulled if we create a christian heaven on earth via kingdom building. But that failed with the middle ages, remember? So if we can't avoid it, we FIGHT IT. Asteroid defense plan. Then, Alien defense plan. Or maybe you think Revelation is a book of allegory, if the strong arm of the Vatican (the USA) is slowly preparing for such a suicidal war?

The Sparrow (1996) is the first novel by author Mary Doria Russell. It won the Arthur C. Clarke Award, James Tiptree, Jr. Award, Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis and the British Science Fiction Association Award. It was followed by a sequel, Children of God, in 1998. The title refers to Matthew 10:29-31, which relates that not even a sparrow falls to the earth without God's knowing of it

The novel begins in the year 2019, when the SETI program, at the Arecibo Observatory, picks up radio broadcasts of music from the vicinity of Alpha Centauri. The first expedition to Rakhat, the world that is sending the music, is organized by the Jesuit order, known for its missionary, linguistic and scientific activities since the time of its founder Ignatius Loyola.

Only one of the crew, Father Emilio Sandoz, a priest, survives to return to Earth, and he is damaged physically and psychologically. The story is told in framed flashback, with chapters alternating between the story of the expedition and the story of Sandoz' interrogation by the Jesuit order's inquest, set up in 2059 to find the truth. Sandoz' return has sparked great controversy – not just because the Jesuits sent the mission independent of United Nations oversight, but also because the mission ended disastrously. Contact with the UN mission, which sent Sandoz back to Earth alone in the Jesuit ship, has since been lost

From the beginning, Sandoz, a talented Puerto Rican linguist, who is described as of mixed Taino and Conquistador heritage and character, born in a San Juan slum, had believed the mission to Rakhat was divinely inspired. Several of his close friends and co-workers, people with a variety of unique skills and talents, had seemingly coincidental connections to Arecibo and one of them, a gifted young technician, was the first to hear the transmissions. In Sandoz's mind, only God's will could bring this group of people with the perfect combination of knowledge and experience together at the moment when the alien signal was detected. These were the people who, with three other Jesuit priests, were chosen by the Society of Jesus to travel to the planet, using an interstellar vessel made out of a small asteroid.


Sandoz tells about how the asteroid flew to the planet Rakhat, and how the crew tried to acclimatize themselves to the new world, experimenting with eating local flora and fauna, then making contact with a rural village – a small-scale tribe of vegetarian gatherers, the Runa, clearly not the singers of the radio broadcasts. Still, welcomed as 'foreigners', they settle among the natives and begin to learn their language and culture, transmitting all their findings via computer uplink to the asteroid-ship now orbiting above the planet. An emergency use of fuel for their landing craft leaves them stranded on the planet.


In his personal life, Sandoz struggles with but maintains his clerical celibacy, as does his mentor, an openly gay priest in his order. He falls in love with a Turkish Jewish artificial intelligence specialist who due to revolution was forced into prostitution in her youth (SOPHIA) and later joined a future corporatized version of Indentured servitude to gain an education.


When they do meet a member of the culture which produced the radio transmissions, he proves to be of a different species from the rural natives, a Jana'ata. An ambitious merchant named Supaari sees in the visitors a possibility to improve his status, while the crew hopes to find an alternative source of fuel in Supaari's city, Gayjur. Meanwhile, the crew begins to grow their own food, introducing the concept of agriculture to the villagers. These seemingly innocent actions and accompanying cultural misunderstandings set into motion the events which lead to the murder of all but Sandoz and one other Earthling, and Sandoz' capture and degradation which is a central mystery in the plot. The human intervention leads to a Runa baby boom, which is tragically harvested by the predatory Jana'ata. The humans are riven with guilt over their misguided action, and most are killed defending against the Jana'ata attack. Though not closely related, the Jana'ata have evolved by aggressive mimicry to physically resemble the Runa, who are in fact their prey species.


It is revealed that Sandoz is made a slave of a famed poet/songwriter, whose broadcasts first alerted Earth to Rakhat's existence. Sandoz is physically disfigured. In that culture, it is considered an honour to be dependent upon another, and likewise to have a dependent, so the flesh between Sandoz's metacarpals is cut away to make it seem that he has long elegant fingers which start at his wrists, and with which he cannot even feed himself (a mutilation analogous to the practice of foot binding). Sandoz, imprisoned and in sexual slavery, is routinely forced to sexually satisfy the musician, along with his friends and colleagues, and it is later revealed the songs which Sandoz had originally considered to be a divine revelation are in fact a kind of ballad pornography celebrating rape, relating the songwriter's sexual exploits on broadcast to the populace.

When Sandoz returns to Earth, his friends are dead and gone and his faith, once considered worthy of actual canonization by his superiors, is merely an extension of his bitter anger with the God who sent him to Rakhat. Due to relativistic space-time effects, decades had passed while he has been gone, during which popular outrage at the UN's initial and highly out-of-context report on the mission, and especially Sandoz's role in the tragedy, had left the Society shattered and nearly extinct. As Sandoz painfully explains what really happened, his personal healing can begin, but only time will prove whether the same is true of the Society.

                The guy who releases all the prisoners ("ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE"), Hydell. He is sporting a HEART tattoo with what, if looked closely, looks like an inverted black cross, a reflection of what is found on the Lutheran logo.

The archons  at first are not aware that Emily is the president's daughter. This ultimately saves her life, buying time for Snow to reach her. The prisoners wear orange suits, resembling the ones the POWs of ISIS do, and employ the same brutal methods of intimidation and murder. Here, they throw a guy into open space. now to the plot of the episode :

The USS Enterprise receives a distress call from Dr. Howard Clarke (Paul Lambert), the leader of a Federation scientific delegation on Ventax II, where the population is in a state of panic because they are convinced that their world will soon end. After the Enterprise arrives, they rescue Dr. Clarke who brings them up to date: a thousand years ago, according to Ventaxian history, the population entered a Faustian deal with Ardra, their mythology's devil. In exchange for ending wars and restoring the ecological balance, and improving their heavily polluted planet, the population would become the personal slaves of Ardra a thousand years later. As the millennium is about to come to a close, the planet has recently begun experiencing mild earthquakes as well as seeing images of Ardra in the skies. These were said to be signs of her arrival.

As Captain Picard and Commander Data (Brent Spiner) discuss the matter with the Ventaxian leader (Marcelo Tubert), a woman appears in the chamber, announcing herself as Ardra. She proves her identity by starting an earthquake at will, and transforming into both the Christian and then the Klingon devil.

Later, in a meeting with the senior staff, Picard expresses his belief that she is a con-artist and points out that all of her "powers" can be recreated with theatrically delivered technology. After the meeting, Picard goes to bed for the evening. As Picard sleeps, Ardra appears and tries to seduce him but he rejects her.

During the course of the hearing, Chief Engineer La Forge (LeVar Burton) and Clarke discover that Ardra has a cloaked ship nearby, that she is indeed using technology to simulate magic, and that she is a known criminal. Picard explains to the leader of the planet that the people themselves improved their planet gradually through hard work and dedication.



And some curious lines from the episode. The show craftily intermingles prophecies and promises of Christ and the "Mary of Fatima" and invertes the meanings of many things, with the goal to sow doubt regarding God and the bible, devices all of which I will expound upon under some of the captions.
